5 AI-Driven SEO Strategies I Run With Claude Code
Five AI-driven SEO strategies I run with Claude Code: research at cents a search, audits from the source files, Google's docs checked first, drafts, data.

What are AI-driven SEO strategies that actually work? The ones where the AI does the reading, checking and counting, and you keep the judgment. Here are the five I run with Claude Code.
None of them is a trick. If you want a tool that publishes 500 pages while you sleep, this isn’t it. Google has a name for that, and it’s a spam policy.
What makes an SEO strategy “AI-driven”?
The AI works on your real files and data, not in a chat window. That’s the whole difference.
A chat assistant gives you text to paste. Claude Code works inside a folder on your computer. It can open every file in a site, run commands and fetch web pages. So you can hand it jobs, not just questions.
1. Why run keyword research inside Claude Code?
Because you pay for the searches you run, not for a month of access.
I run my keyword research inside Claude Code and pay cents per search instead of a monthly subscription. The results land in a file in the project, right next to the site they’re for. The next step reads that file directly. Nothing gets copied between tabs.
I won’t cover the setup here. The free video at the end shows it.
2. Can Claude Code audit your own site?
Yes, and from the inside. A crawler sees your site from outside. Claude Code reads the files the site is built from.
So you can ask plain questions. Which pages have a title over 60 characters? Which have two H1s? Which images have no alt text? Which internal links point to pages that no longer exist?
It finds them, lists them, and offers to fix them. By default it asks before it changes a file.
Don’t let it fix 200 pages in one go without reading the list first.
3. Why check Google’s docs before you act?
Because SEO advice moves faster than Google’s rules do.
Google publishes its Search documentation for free. You can save the pages into your project folder. Then ask Claude Code to check a claim against the actual page before you spend a weekend on it.
Take llms.txt. Some people sell it as a must-have for AI search. Google’s own guide says Google Search ignores it, and that it will “neither harm nor help” your rankings in Google. One check, one weekend saved.
4. Can AI write SEO content that ranks?
It can draft. It can’t supply your experience.
Google’s guide on AI search asks for “non-commodity” content. That means first-hand takes that go past common knowledge, not another list of tips anyone could write. Google also warns that AI models “don’t retrieve facts” and tells you to fact-check everything before you publish.
So the strategy is a split. You bring the story, the numbers and the photos. Claude Code turns your notes into a clean draft and checks it against your style rules. Then you read every line.
5. Why read Search Console data with Claude Code?
Because that’s where the truth is, and nobody reads a 1,000-row export for fun.
Search Console shows the searches Google actually showed your pages for. Export it into the project and ask the useful questions. Which pages get impressions but almost no clicks? Which searches is the wrong page showing up for?
Google also has a Generative AI performance report in Search Console. It shows how your content does in features like AI Overviews. That beats guessing.
Why do all five point the same way?
Look at what each one hands to the AI, and what it keeps.
| Strategy | What Claude Code does | What stays with you |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword research | Runs the searches, saves the data | Deciding what’s worth a page |
| Site audit | Reads every file, lists the faults | Approving each fix |
| Google’s docs | Checks a claim against the source | Acting on the answer |
| Content | Drafts and checks style | The experience and the facts |
| Search Console | Reads the whole export | Choosing what to change |
Five different jobs, one pattern. The AI handles volume. You handle judgment.
Google points the same way from its side. Its guide says optimizing for AI search “is optimizing for the search experience, and thus still SEO.” No new rules. Just the old ones, done faster.
And I’ve seen it from a third angle. I followed a local SEO ranking contest among practitioners, where people tested ideas in public.
When a search engine, a contest and your own client work all say the same thing, it’s probably true.
What should you not hand to AI?
Decisions. Which pages to build. What to promise a customer. Which claims are true.
Claude Code will tell you a task is done. Sometimes a title still runs long or a link still breaks. Open the page and check.
Don’t publish anything you haven’t read.
Frequently asked questions
What is AI-driven SEO? It’s SEO where an AI does the heavy reading and checking: research data, site files, exports. The decisions, the experience and the final check stay with a person.
Will Google penalize AI-written content? Not for being written with AI. Google’s spam policies target pages made mainly to manipulate rankings without adding value, however they’re made. Fact-check everything and make sure each page is worth reading.
Do I need to code to use Claude Code for SEO? No. You describe the job in plain English. It helps to know what good SEO looks like, so you can judge what it hands back.
How much does Claude Code cost? It comes with Claude’s paid plans. Pro is $20 a month, or $17 a month billed yearly, and Max is $100 or $200. I’ve broken it down in How Much Does Claude Code Cost?
